Lawn Free & Low Maintenance
Mountain View, California
With kids no longer living at home, the homeowners wanted to remove their little-used and expansive front and back lawns that were thirsty and filled with weeds.
In their place they wanted a garden that would be overflowing with color, attract plenty of hummingbirds, and reduce their water bill, all while being low-maintenance.
In addition to a combination of Mediterranean, Australian, and California native plants, we created a dry streambed, an arbor-covered flagstone patio, and winding gravel pathways.
The result is a lush garden filled with color, intoxicating scent, and dozens of hummingbirds throughout the year – with a 60% reduction in their water bill.
*This garden is also featured in the August 2018 issue of Garden Gate magazine.
